A/W16 Trends

Whether it’s embracing the Danish concept of Hygge or recreating the retro glamour of Hollywood, this autumn/winter sees a whole range of trends to inspire a new look for your home. With this in mind, we’ve rounded up some of the most eye-catching ideas for this season.

Mid-Century

Revisiting the popular 1950s trend, Mid-Century style has matured, becoming bolder and more masculine for this season. To create this dramatic effect look, opt for deep tonal shades, aged tan leather, polished walnut finishes and statement lighting to transform your home office, living room or dining area. Add brass lamps and elegant furniture with tapered legs such as the Turney Acacia Sideboard to complete this look.

Vintage Glamour

In contrast to the Mid-Century look, Vintage Glamour leans towards a chic, feminine feel, incorporating soft pastels, metallics and textiles, all of which can be used to recreate the glitzy vibe of classic Hollywood glamour.  Add unique twists with chandelier lighting such as our Venus Nickel Chandelier–and gilded accessories, along with hints of candyfloss pink, jade and green for a fresh twist.

Hygge

The Danish design trend Hygge (pronounced ‘hoo-ga’), has taken the interiors world by storm recently and promises to grow even more over the coming months, making now the perfect time to embrace it. Traditional Scandi whites and soothing greys are joined by moody blues and rich greens and look great when teamed with a selection of your favourite personal pieces, such as lamps or scented candles, which help to put the finishing touches to this warm and welcoming style. Combine chunky cable knit textiles like this Nomad Natural Knitted Stool and rustic finishes with accessories such as slate placemats for the ultimate cosy feel this winter.

Global Folk

Throwing the design rules out of the window, Global Folk gives us the chance to express our inner traveller through clashing colours and geometric patterns in a fusion of African, Moroccan and tribal influences. Avoiding perfection, this rough and ready style aims to conjure an authentic worldly feel, working best in a space with exposed brick. Layer woven patterned or tasselled blankets and accessories on furniture for an easy way to achieve this distinct look. Take things further with metallic and raw-wood pieces and Mayan prints. Earth colours such as red and orange are at the core of this look, and make sure to fill your space with souvenirs and pieces inspired by your travels like this brilliant Carved Wood Elephant to add unique charm.
