Renowned for our bold designs and stylishly versatile collections, The Libra Company has been designing luxury homewares since 1972, but we wanted to share with you a little more about the team behind the scenes, what makes them special and what gives them joy in bringing you the very best of luxurious furniture and accessories.

Introducing: Buyer, Catrin Parry

Q: Where do you get your theme inspiration from?

A: I’m constantly on the lookout for new and inspiring colours, textures, finishes and techniques.

I get inspiration from high-end Hotels and Restaurants, Printed Media, and Film and TV dramas.

I’ve also had the opportunity to regularly travel the world and gather lots of inspiration from my overseas shopping and sourcing trips.

Trade Fairs too are always an exciting time when suppliers and designers release their new ranges, there are always emerging industry trends.

Q: Tell us a little about your buying habits

From a business perspective, we always buy to Seasons & Phases. In addition to this, I always like to have a bank of developments in the pipeline.

I like to investigate new product opportunities with current and new suppliers. Building strong Supplier relationships is key and they need to be aligned with the same ethical principles.

Suppliers are always keen to share their new developments and whenever possible work hand in hand to develop bespoke ranges.

Q: Which products are most unique to Libra?

A: Agate is a natural material used in our Agate Console, which creates an impressive unique look to any home.

And our new Ecomix Ranges are made from eco-friendly recycled paper and natural materials.

These ranges are so special, they are manufactured using a timeless craft by Indian Artisans and are certified to Global Recycle Standard. Its entire process is designed to use more sustainable resources and is least dependent on Industrial processes.

Q: Is there a look which is hugely popular with Libra customers?

A: Sculptures in all shapes and sizes are a staple item for Libra, we sell these time and time again even the smallest sculpture can pull a look together.

Q: What is your ‘must have’ product for the summer?

A: For me it has to be our Ecomix Range, all of the pieces are tactile and stylish and are suitable to layer into most room sets, creating strong statements with high eco credentials

Q: What’s your favourite Libra product?

A: Well I can’t narrow it down to one I’m afraid !

 I love the simplicity of Linden furniture range and the new Gilver rings accessories range, they are both pretty classic in terms of neutral/versatile colour and are very stylish without being overpowering.

Q: How did you get into Buying & Merchandising?

A: I studied Fashion Design and have worked for High Street retailers for many years, I have worked in Buying since the start of my career as Trainee Buyer at Next.

This lead to working in Home Interiors ,  I am very creative I really think that it helps if you have an understanding of how products are designed and assembled when it comes down to creating new ranges.

At Libra we have an excellent and highly skilled supply base covering many different product types, which allows me to use my expertise and their great skills.

Q: If you could live in any design era, which would it be?

A: 1930’s Hollywood, so timeless Glamorous and Elegant not only reflected in the clothing but the interior trends which are still so relevant today.
