Meet Sales Director Alistair
Forming part of The Libra Company’s history, Sales Director Alistair Scott has been with the business for 36 years and continues to push the world of Libra across the South East of England and South West London.
What is your job title?
Sales Director
How long have you worked at Libra?
I joined Libra on the 31st July 1978 so 36 years in total
How has your job role changed over the years?
The selling side has not really changed that much but what has changed is the technology. We used to have a good old order book in triplicate; now it’s all high-tech with all orders done on an iPad!
Who is your oldest client?
Lenleys of Canterbury. It would have been one of my first calls 36 years ago and I am pleased to say they are still going strong.
What Libra products do you have in your own home?
I have a lot of Libra products at home but my favourite piece is a bronze modern couple.
In your opinion, what are Libra’s ‘must-have’ products?
The Chareston copper range of clocks, the friendship bench sculpture and equine trio horse head. Furniture wise I’d probably say the English Eccentric black console, industrial bardem trunks and the oak range from our Factory collection.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Gardening
What tips can you offer to clients who are stocking Libra for the first time?
Talk to your Libra representative. They will give you excellent advice and guide you through our very diverse and extensive range.
Your sales team has grown dramatically since you started. What have you learnt over the years and what advice can you pass on to the latest Libra recruits?
Always listen to the customer and understand their needs, expectations, and concerns. Knowledge is key; advise customers accurately and build a relationship based on trust.
And finally, what do you enjoy most about your job?
Selling our products and spending time with Libra customers.
